Camellia oil is an edible light amber-colored, non-volatile oil that has a sweet herbal aroma, commonly known as "camellia seed oil", is a carrier vegetable oil extracted from the seeds of the Camellia oleifera evergreen plant. Camellia oil is honoured as "Oriental olive oil" with more than 90% polyunsaturated acid, like oleic acid and linoleic acid etc. In addition, it also contains bioactive substances, like amino-acids, vitamin A、B、C、D and E, tea polyphenols, camellin squalene etc, with good permeability and absorption.
As edible oil, camellia oil is the main cooking oil used in many Asian countries. It has fewer saturated fatty acids and more monounsaturated fatty acids than olive oil, has high levels of vitamin E and contains polyphenol antioxidants. Long-term consumption of camellia oil can not only reduce the cholesterol in serum , lower plasma fibrin and blood fat , but also has the obvious function of improving high blood pressure ,obesity and so on.
